There are so many tools in Illustrator to get to grips with that it can be useful to have a visual reference of how they look. This post relates to the ‘Scribble’ tool found under the Effect menu. The above shows the different Scribble variations applied to a filled square. Part two will show this effect applied to the stroke only. The scribble effect can be applied to any vector shape.
How to apply the Scribble tool:
- Go to the Effect menu and then to Stylize > Scribble
- Play around with variables such as: Angle, path overlap, stroke width, curviness and spacing
- For editable paths, go to Object and then Expand appearance.
